MoeTV as a Player
Alright, let's get started. Moe is a streamer and competitive CS:GO player, a former player for EchoFox, as well as a co-owner of the organization. Previously he had played as a sub for Liquid, as a player on Torqued, and some other low tier teams. What I wanted to talk about with Moe is his idea that he is worthy of playing for top tier 2 teams or even tier 1. On stream, he has said he would rather play for a tier 2 team that is guaranteed wins, then a low tier 1 team. Do not get me wrong, Moe is a great player, showing his strength with the AWP and proving his worth, but there are many things which he needs to work on, such as his consistency for beginners. He is able to land some nice shots, crazy flicks, and secure rounds for his team while wielding the scout or AWP, however there are many situations where Moe is given an easy line up, and whiffs. Tier 1/2 are unforgiving places in which you will not be able to recover from mistakes like this, and Moe has experienced this plenty of times. However, I still haven't finished on whether or not he should be able to be in these higher ranking teams. While Moe plays, he can become sort of controlling, taking the role of IGL, even in cases where a designated one has already been decided, making his own calls and changing the plans of the dedicated IGL. This results in dumb plays many of the times that not only get himself killed, but also his teammates and lose him rounds. With a little more self-discipline, Moe could easily fix this issue, and make him a more valuable player overall. For some pros to balance this out, and avoid becoming to biased, Moe is a very communicative player, and while he makes his own calls, he is sure to allow his teammates to change and adapt to what he is doing. In many situations while playing, Moe will also make great decisions and work with his team mates in order to get advantages on the enemy. One example, I saw a round on Cache, Moe's team was on an eco on CT, so he got himself a Scout and played B with two other players. On entering the site, he called out his early peak, and landed a shot on the enemy in sunroom. In most situations, the player would get greedy and go for the re-peek, but instead, Moe called to his other teammates who had CZ's to peek, and with the rapid fire of the pistol, they were able to easily take out the enemy and pushed for the control under the command of Moe. And a final point, let's not forget his tendency to get very angry at not only himself but his teammates when he is doing bad. Obviously players will get angry if they aren't performing at their best, but by bringing in your teammates, you are getting the whole team tilted, and affecting everyone's performance. So although Moe has tons of potential and proves to show amazing skill and knowledge, he has a lot to improve on before he is able to contest for spots in these top tier teams.
I have been studying this blog very carefully and declared myself to be ready for a test on this very peculiar subject to determine the state of MoeTV as a player.
